Police detained 15 people involved in various illegal gambling activities at Circuit Road on Sunday.
Despite the town council’s anti-gambling efforts – such as removing a set of stone tables and chairs, installing cameras and displaying anti-gambling notices, people continued gathering openly at the void deck of Block 42 to gamble.
According to Stomp, residents around the area said that plainclothes officers were probably observing the gamblers for six hours before making the arrests.
Two men, aged between 50 and 60, are currently assisting the police with investigations.
Mr. Chen, a resident in favour of the raid, said, “I hope the operation will have a deterrent effect so that other gamblers will know the police have their eye on them.”
