As everybody knows, Singapore was the proud host of international stars at the WTA Finals in the last couple of weeks.
And you would've thought that with the extensive mention of the city alongside big names such as Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams, it would've been difficult to forget us, right?
Not really. WTA Finals commentator Kevin Skinner made a big blunder when he signed off from broadcast on Oct. 27 by saying, "Goodbye! From China!" instead of "Singapore".
To make matter worse, Singaporeans are highly sensitive to being mistaken for the bigger Republic, which explains the social media response:

11 hours after the incident, Skinner apologised on Twitter, admitting it was a serious mistake and hence, “not acceptable”.
I made a serious mistake. I signed off saying Singapore 11x & said China once. This is not acceptable. I apologize to those I have offended.

Singapore is one of the ninth cities to have hosted the WTA Finals besides Boca Raton, Los Angeles, Oakland, New York City, Munich, Madrid, Doha and Istanbul.
The tournament is expected to be held here annually until 2018.
