Film junkies — mark the month of December for that's when the inaugural Singapore Media Festival, organised by the local Media Development Authority (MDA), is happening.
The event will consist of a trade market for film and TV, award sessions, conferences and screenings, and expects to welcome trade visitors, industry practitioners such as film critics, as well as members of the public.
The lineup:
Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF): Dec. 4 – 14
Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF): Dec. 9 – 12
ScreenSingapore (SS): Dec. 9 – 12
Asian Television Awards (ATA): Dec. 11
Well into its 25th year, the SGIFF is internationally recognised for promoting Asian filmmakers and films. It’s also where many film programmers and producers scout filmmaking talents.
At ATF and SS, attendees will get to participate in conferences and masterclasses where they can come face to face and exchange ideas with global media players.
Aside from film appreciation, ATA is held to give recognition to the success of talents in Asia’s TV industry. This year, a new awards category – that allows webcasters to compete – will be introduced to keep up with the current digital trend.
