A total of 105 suspected drug offenders were arrested in two separate operations launched by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) from Oct. 14 – 17. The seized drugs amounted to 560g of heroin, 118g of ‘Ice’, 71 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, 426 Erimin-5 tablets and a small amount of cannabis – approximately the street value of $62,000.
560g of heroin can 'feed' about 250 drug abusers for at least a week.
The first operation, spanning across three days, covered areas such as Bedok, Boon Lay, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Chua Chu Kang, Jurong, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Woodlands and Yishun.
93 suspected drug abusers and six suspected drug traffickers were apprehended.
In the second operation on Oct. 16, officers nabbed a 20-year-old female Malaysian at Woodlands Checkpoint. 460g of heroin and 50g of ‘Ice’ was confiscated from her possession.
The police followed up the arrest with another operation to capture the intended recipients of the drug haul. A 24-year-old male Malaysian and four Singaporeans were detained. CNB officers found another 80g of heroin, 20g of ‘Ice’, 340 Ermin-5 tablets, 64 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets and drug smoking equipment.
Investigations are still on-going.
