On Tuesday, NParks confirmed that it has nulled Han Hui Hui’s applications to speak and demonstrate at the Speakers Corner again until investigations on the previous "Return Our CPF" protest case has concluded.
On two occasions, Sept. 18 and Oct.19, the Malaysia-born 23-year-old had attempted to apply permit for the use of Hong Lim Park this Saturday. However, Singapore Police Force and NParks have stated that the approvals granted to her have been cancelled. Further applications made by any individuals under investigations for the Sept. 27 event will not be authorised.
The Speaker’s Corner at Hong Lim Park is designated for public speaking and gatherings for Singaporeans. Under the law, any Singaporean can apply a permit to conduct an event there, as long as the activities aren’t unlawful or conducting hatred or hostility between racial or religious groups.
