Police have arrested a 41-year-old serial shoplifter at Jurong East Central for eight counts of theft cases.
On Tuesday, police received a report regarding shop theft at Westgate mall, located on Gateway Drive. Upon studying CCTV footage and conducting thorough ground enquiries, officers from the Crime Strike Force (CSF) at Jurong East Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) identified the suspect and circulated his photo within the Ground Response Force (GRF).
Six hours later, he was spotted and nabbed. Investigations revealed that he’s believed to be accountable for seven other theft cases. The total value of the stolen items was $1,000.
Shop theft carries a jail term of not more than seven years, or a fine, or both.
