In an unfortunate turn of events, a jump formwork collapsed at a construction site at Pioneer Turn yesterday, causing the death of a worker and leaving two others injured.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the Singapore Civil Defence Force reported to the accident with a fire engine, a red rhino, a fire bike and two ambulances. The two injured workers were still conscious when they were conveyed to the National University Hospital.
It’s untimely for this accident to occur, especially after Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin only stated a few days ago in Parliament that the Ministry of Manpower has stepped up their enforcement efforts to combat workplace safety violations, particularly in the construction sector.
The Minister offered his condolences to the victims on his Twitter account, and reportedly one of the injured man is in intensive care unit while the other is in stable condition. Police are conducting investigations.
