It’s difficult for some in the LGBTQ community to get the proper help and advice they need when support is inadequate in a conservative society such as Singapore’s, but non-profit counselling and personal development organisation Oogachaga is fixing that one step at a time.  They’ve recently launched a hotline called Women on Wednesdays (WOW), a service for women who  identify as lesbian, bisexual or queer, which runs on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 10pm. Callers are more than welcome to dial in should they need advise, seek emotional support or get connected to the appropriate community resources. All calls will be attended by trained women hotliners, and according to their press release, Oogachaga has been preparing its women volunteers as part of a training programme to provide them the necessary skills to handle a range of LGBTQ-related issues such as relationship problems, questions about sexuality, sexual health and violence.  OC Hotline, Oogachaga’s first service launched in 2006 catering to Singapore’s LGBTQ community, continues to operate 4 days a week, and a Whatsapp service has also been added for greater convenience to callers.  More details on the hotline service on the Oogachaga website.
