Singaporean feature “As You Were” to compete at Tokyo International Film FestivalHot on the heels of To Singapore, with Love, another Singaporean film is set to gain recognition on the world stage. As You Were, directed by Liao Jiekai, will make its world premiere during the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival. The film is competing in the festival’s “Asian Future” category, open to young directors who have made no more than two features. As You Were tells the story of childhood sweethearts Guohui and Peiling. Facing the end of their relationship, the pair spend their final moments together on an offshore island. This is the second feature film from Liao Jiekai, whose debut, Red Dragonflies, picked up a Special Jury Prize at the 2010 Jeonju International Film Festival.
