Tens of thousands of protestors continue to remain on the streets of downtown Hong Kong today in the Occupy Central showdown, fighting against the Chinese government’s increasingly authoritarian ruling, and for democracy in their homeland.
As such, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) have issued a travel notice for Hong Kong, advising Singaporeans there to avoid areas where there are demonstrations.
The MFA also urged Singaporeans travelling to or residing in Hong Kong to monitor the ongoing developments closely and heed the instructions of local authorities.
They are encouraged to eRegister with the MFA to facilitate contact should there be emergencies, and take all necessary precautions for safety during the period of civil unrest.
