ICA looks into implementing iris scanning technology at checkpointsSingapore may be the first in Asia to install iris recognition — a technology more commonly observed in reel life — at its borders.  According to The Straits Times, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has requested interested dealers to submit proposals for a possible iris scanning system, which identifies an individual by his unique and complex iris patterns. It works similarly to thumbprint scanners currently in operation.  It's said to be mostly error-free, but loopholes such as possible eye diseases and a change in reading due to long eyelashes and the use of contact lens, have been brought up.
