6 products recalled by AVA due to 'tainted oil' scandalPhoto caption: Frozen leek cooked dumpling; Chi Mei The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) recalled six affected products from shelves in Singapore yesterday, in relation to the 'tainted oil' scandal in Hong Kong and Taiwan, Channel NewsAsia reports. They are namely from two locally-sold brands Chi Mei and Sheng Hsiang Jen. Chi Mei’s frozen pork cooked dumpling, frozen vegetable cooked dumpling and frozen leek cooked dumpling, and Sheng Hsiang Jen’s cream cookies, classic cream cookies and cookies selection were on the lists available on Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) and Hong Kong Centre of Food Safety (CFS) websites. Authorities have cleared suspicions about the import of tainted oil from Taiwan and Hong Kong for use in food preparation here. AVA’s working closely with food authorities in the affected countries and will continue to monitor the situation in Singapore.
