![Cheaper mobile roaming rates for Singaporeans and Bruneians when they travel to either country]()
Mobile phone subscribers in Brunei Darussalam and Singapore travelling to each country will soon enjoy reduced mobile roaming rates of up to 10 percent for voice calls and 50 percent for text messages, video calls and data usage.
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) have worked together with mobile operators the both countries to lower mobile roaming rates, which will go into effect starting Jan. 1 next year.
This is the first of such arrangement in the Asia-Pacific region, and this agreement will help promote greater communicative connectivity between both countries. Negotiations began in 2012 in light of the global trend of increasing data consumption.
