On Sept. 5, Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) finally voiced their response to the video of a stray dog getting killed in a dog operation at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, which had gone viral on Facebook the day before.
The video, originally posted by Sg Dogslover Facebook, revealed that the deceased dog was a nursing mother, triggering the local dog-loving community to lodge a police report and to request assistance from volunteers to look for her stray puppies.
The three stray puppies were found a day later and are now believed to be healthy and eating well under the care of foster guardian 'Auntie Helen'.
AVA explained that the dog control operation was intended to investigate the recent complaints about stray dogs around the area. However, the engaged contractor had modified the trap without first gaining the organisation's approval. They were also careless on ensuring trapped animals were released as soon as possible.
Legal actions are apparently being launched against the contractor company.
