Zuji survey reveals the odd little insecurities of Singapore travellers Singaporeans are quite a jittery, anxious bunch, according to a survey conducted by online travel agency Zuji Singapore.  Almost half of the 1,629 Singapore-based travellers surveyed have revealed that their biggest fear while waiting to board the plan is flight cancellation, followed by having to take a dump before boarding.  Even though we love travelling, it seems that not all of us are that adventurous when it comes to pre-holiday preparations. A fifth of the people surveyed will always purchase plane tickets way before the departure date, while almost a third would never dare go abroad with an empty suitcase. 45 percent of travellers buy travel insurance to be on the safe side. Our fear of bugs and the supernatural is also pretty prominent in Zuji’s study — more than a third are terrified of being disturbed by insects, making it the top concern for hotel rooms. Following that, we’re also afraid of strange noises, deadly silence and odd stains and smells around carpeting. This would explain why 60 percent of Singapore-based travellers firmly believe in performing their own little rituals when going overseas, and 47 percent knock on hotel room doors before entering as a sign of respect to the spirits that might dwell inside.  Even with all our little insecurities put out on the table, the fact still remains that we do love jetsetting about. Zuji Singapore CEO Chua Hui Wan expresses her fascination in learning the pet peeves of Singapore-based travellers, and also how heartening to see people continue going on vacations despite them.
