![Upper Thomson hit-and-run driver arrested]()
A 33-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a hit-and-run accident that happened along Thomson Road.
On Saturday, Aug. 16 at about 1:55am, a female pedestrian was hit by a car, sustaining serious injuries on her head and hand. The driver of the car fled the scene and the pedestrian was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Through intensive investigations and extensive fieldwork, police identified the driver and picked him up on Friday, Aug. 22.
Investigations against him for offences under the Road Traffic Act and the Penal Code are still-ongoing, but his driving licence has been suspended.
The Traffic Police is reminding motorists involved in accidents where any party is injured to never leave the accident scene and to stop and render assistance such as calling for an ambulance. Anyone convicted of not doing so is liable to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or jail not exceeding 12 months for first-timers and a fine not exceeding $5,000 and up to two years in jail for second-time offenders.
