A first in the world train-cum-bus depot will be established in Changi by 2024. The depot will span across an area equivalent to 60 football fields.
The train tracks for the East-West, Downtown and Thomson-East Coast Lines will be extended to the vicinity of the depot site. Each train will pull over on different levels of the train depot, thus they are all built to operate independently of one another. The building’s stabling capacity is purposefully designed to hold a maximum of 220 trains.
The bus depot is a three-storey structure situated beside the train depot. Bus workshops will occupy the first level while the second and third level will be parking bays for around 550 buses.
