By 2024, commuters heading towards Changi Airport can look forward to a shorter waiting time at Tanah Merah station when a new platform comes up.
The existing platform at Tanah Merah only provides one train to and fro Changi Airport. With a third platform, two tracks will operate for the East-West Line and another two will head towards Expo and Changi Airport.
In addition to the transport enhancement at Tanah Merah MRT station, a new four-in-one depot in Changi will house trains from the East-West Line, Downtown Line and Thomson-East Coast Line, along with a bus depot.
