A 54-year-old woman was found dead in a housing unit at Block 440 of Tampines Street 43 on the morning of Aug. 21. An 80-year-old man believed to be her father-in-law, has been arrested by the police.
Madam Ong Guat Heng's body was discovered drenched in blood at the flat she shared with her husband, son and father-in-law, by her daughter, who alerted the police.
According to media reports, the father-in-law had by then made his way to the Bedok North Neighbourhood Police Centre, where he was apprehended.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) later picked up pieces of evidence from the third-floor corner unit, such as a dented black metal rod from the rubbish chute, as well as a blood-stained T-shirt.
Neighbours reported hearing quarrelling coming from the house the night before, and screaming on Thursday morning, but most thought nothing of it.
The 80-year-old man is expected to be charged in court today.
