Creatory's a festival you can't miss because it has... well, everything you could ever wantThis year's been a montage of fairs, markets and festivals for Singapore, but so far they've all been focused on a particular field: alcohol, books, craft, music, food, even fresh food. Some mix two, sometimes three in one event, but so far none diverse enough for the increasingly hard-to-please city folk.  In come Creatory (Aug. 23 - 24), the brainchild of 8@ate Productions, a new arm of The Ate Group.  Executive director Sharon Chong describes the event in a nutshell for TODAY reporter Don Mendoza: "Creatory is a festival that strives to marry many different creative fields and forms under one roof." Chong reveals that each level of the venue, a repurposed industrial building in Macpherson called Tasty Plaza (37 MacTaggart Road), will hold a variety of activities including art showcases, craft workshops and foodie events specially curated by a diferent design collective.  Expect to see a running theme as you explore each level — Chong says, "what you see, hear and consume, every detail of your surroundings, would have been carefully conceived to create a holistic experience. Your drink will have been created to complement the artwork you're seeing; our snack will reflect the music you're hearing. It's like one large interactive art installation."  If that doesn't embody the Singaporean idea of what's hipster (basically so edgy it makes one giddy), the event lineup, comprising over 60 taste-making establishments and off-the-menu offerings, will. Food highlights:  - Five-course smoked degustation menu paired with wines by Morsels for preview night, Aug. 22 - For Sunday brunch (Aug. 24), Jeremy Nguee from Preparazzi will cook up a modernised version of roast pork and char siew rice, cooked and served in vessels created by ceramic studio Mud Rock. These bowls will later be 'destroyed' to their original state - Janice Wong x Desinere: A veritable sugar fantasy land made up of desserts by the founder of 2am:dessertbar and crafters Paper Pleated, served in the Creatory 'chiller room'. Local singer Sarah Cheng de Winne will also be performing - Unique-to-Creatory dishes like Artichoke's coconut ice-cream with chicken skin crackling, &SONS' Singapore hotdog, Kerbside Gourmet's Bjorn Bak Chor Mee Sandwich and The Alternative, a vegetarian slider by Immigrants Gastrobar's Damian D'Silva Check their website and Facebook page for other highlights like art installations, henna painting, Instagram printouts, pop-up bars, as well as sales of books and knick knacks — both installed and roving — by the likes of 28 Hong Kong Street, Art Loft, BooksActually, Carte Postale, Edible Gardens, Haystakt, Kult, Paper Bunny and The General Company. See list of workshops and prices here.  Tickets for admission are available online for $28 (one-day) and $48 (two-day). Tickets for special dinners are also on sale from $140.
