![Video: Glass door falls on four-year-old boy at Westgate]()
A four-year-old boy suffered a cut on the back of his head and neck pains after a glass door fell on him at Westgate mall yesterday.
A source only known as "Paul" told Channel NewsAsia (CNA), the door about three metres high was just outside of NTUC's My First Skool childcare centre and a Fitness First gym, and led to the outdoor area on Level 5.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has confirmed it received a call for assistance at 6:05pm and that the boy was sent to the National University Hospital, accompanied by his mother and mall staff.
Westgate, which has since released video footage of the incident (watch it below), says the boy had been swinging the glass door when it fell on him. "...(he) had over-extended the glass door when he swung it, causing it to hit the door frame and shatter," the mall's marketing communications manager Mandy Chiu told CNA.
It's understood that as the door was made of tempered glass, it didn't shatter all over the ground, and the child.
A contractor is said to have conducted checks on the glass doors and panels at Westgate overnight to prevent the incident from happening again.
