Trees in four different areas of Singapore toppled over today after a bout of strong wind and thunderstorms, causing traffic and obstructing a car park entrance in the northeast.
The areas affected include Pioneer Road, Punggol Drive, Rivervale Drive, and Edgedale Plains, Channel News Asia reported.
MediaCorp was notified of the incidents when it received several calls from civilians through its hotline.
After the “freak 15-minute storm”, about “six to seven trees” toppled over along Rivervale Drive, deeming the road unusable by pedestrians and cyclists alike, according to one of the callers.
Warnings of “moderate to heavy thundery showers with gusty wind” and high water levels at Tampines Road/Jalan Teliti were tweeted by the National Environment Agency this afternoon.
