Police have arrested two brothers, aged 21 and 35, believed to have broken into a clinic along Ghim Moh Road.
The clinic had reported the housebreaking at 8:54am on June 16 and several gallons of cough mixture and cash were found to be stolen.
Officers from the Clementi Police Division then conducted investigations and ground enquiries, which led to the detainment of the younger suspect at Jelapang Road two days later. Several containers of the clinic's cough syrup, as well as about $5000 cash, were found in his possession.
The suspect's older brother was arrested in Clementi.
Preliminary investigations reveal the suspects may have gained entry into the clinic through its rear window, seized the cough mixture and sold it to various unknown parties.
Both suspects will be charged in court today, June 20. If convicted, they may face a jail term as long as 14 years.
Police advise owners of commercial and business premises to install strong locks and grills, good security systems and alarms to prevent break-ins.
