![In other NEA news, daily PSI readings to commence in lieu of worsening haze]()
Starting today, the National Environment Agency (NEA) will begin its daily PSI reading forecasts.
The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) had earlier indicated El Nino would intensify from weak to moderate conditions in the next few months.
This along with the Southwest Monsoon season will see an increase in transboundary smoke from land and forest fires in the region including Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Southwest Monsoon season typically lasts from June to September or early October.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) will be working closely with healthcare institutions to ensure that the healthcare sector is adequately prepared for the incoming haze.
There will also be increased monitoring in schools and working environments to identify or minimise risks associated with pro-longed exposure to the haze including conjunctivitis and throat irritation.
Check the forecast and advisory daily on the NEA website.
