Commentary: I can't be a Singaporean anymore

Formerly a long-time Cleo and Cosmopolitan Singapore editor, Deborah Tan now does her own thang as founder of Material World, a lifestyle website also run as a content agency. In her latest op-ed style article, Tan talks about how over the last 15 years, she's gone from not being able to imagine living anywhere else but Singapore, to concluding there is no way she's going to let herself die here.  Here are some excerpts from her article: "In a country with so much, how is it that its people constantly feel they have so little? So little time, so little money, so little freedom.""In the 50 years of nation-building, what is this 'nation' doing for the people who have helped build it? Singapore is a place for the young and healthy. Once you turn old, decrepit and 'useless', you are forgotten.""It is a beautiful country if you don’t dig too deep, don’t go too far, and don’t think too hard.""I can’t be in a country that constantly tells me I don’t have enough.
