JWT Singapore invents wearable tech that alerts your loved ones when you're in dangerThe Singapore office of global marcomms brand JWT has created the Guardian Angel, a wearable tech accessory that lets you break away from uncomfortable situations and alert your emergency contact in case of danger.  The pendant — shaped like a halo and can be worn on a bracelet or necklace —is connected to the owner's phone.  When the Guardian Angel is clicked on, a call is made to the phone, offering the owner an excuse to break away from the harasser, say in a shared space such a bar or office. If the owner suspects a threat to her safety, the pendant button can be held for three seconds, sending an SOS text message to a designated emergency number — friends or parents — to notify them. The text message provides coordinates and a Google Map link to the owner's location.  Though the Guardian Angel is developed through collaboration with women's rights advocacy organisation AWARE, we think the gadget can be used for anyone, not just women, and in other 'uncomfortable situations' like a blind date that has gone awry.  The Guardian Angel can also be used anywhere in the world and linked to any phone even if it's not a smartphone, thanks to its simple text message function.  Want to buy? The Guardian Angel is now on sale via My Room Retail for USD120. An additional leather cord or silver bracelet will set you back USD30 — 60 more.
