Shanghai-based budget carrier Spring Airlines commence daily flights between Singapore and Shanghai today, April 25, adding a third option for travellers between the two cities (Singapore Airlines and China Eastern Airlines also fly the route).
This is part of the airline's expansion in 2014, which includes new flights from Shanghai to Osaka, Chiang Mai and Da Nang.
The flights will depart Singapore at 7:15pm while the return from Shanghai leaves at noon. Flight duration is just over five hours from Singapore to Shanghai and just under six hours from Shanghai to Singapore. Round-trip flights are available from around $413 including taxes.

Spring Airlines, which became China's first low-cost airline when it was launched in 2005, is particularly active on social media and made the news in December 2013 for its 'matchmaking' flights. These events provide an opportunity for single men and women to meet by playing games in-flight and at the destination.
