The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is requesting that Baihakki Khaizan, the Singaporean footballer recently recruited then sidelined by Johor Darul Takzim, play with the LionsXII for the rest of the season.
According to a TODAY report by Dan Guen Chin, FAS has submitted enquiries on Baihakki's availability to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), who will convene a meeting next week to discuss the matter.
LionsXII manager Visakan Subramanian is also said to be concerned about Baihakki's performance for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation.
He said that if the defender isn't playing competitive football and stays idle until the end of the year, it's not going to do his football career any good. "That's why we have asked the FAM if we can register him for the MSL. If not then we may have to find an S-League club for him to continue playing," said Visakan.
TODAY also raised the issue of Baihakki's hefty salary, which is a reported USD30,000 a month under the Johor FA payroll, which FAS has yet to discuss.
