About 6,500 possible items were suggested as the Jubilee Baby Gift, to be given to all babies born on the nation's 50th birthday next year.
Among the 15 shortlisted to incorporate three elements — 'care' for the baby, 'celebrate' the baby and family bonding, and 'commemorate' the baby’s birth in SG50 — are bibs, growth wall charts and sippy cups.
The suggestions were collected from various platforms, namely The Jubilee Baby Gift microsite, feedback booths, focus group sessions, and REACH’s online platforms in the first half of April.
A five-member advisory panel took into account feedback from The Jubilee Baby Gift focus group discussions to arrive at the shorlist, like ensuring a reasonable cost for the gift and the exclusion of certain items like perishables.
Items that were not shortlisted included those which would be consumed quickly or which might not be suitable for all babies, such as diapers or milk powder, or those that were not commemorative or keepsake in nature, such as vouchers.
Singaporeans can vote for their five preferred Jubilee Baby Gift items via www.nptd.gov.sg/jubilee from today until May 15.
