Asus announced the launch of its ZenFone smartphone series in Southeast Asia at a press event in Jakarta yesterday.
Having been launched earlier in China and Taiwan, the Intel-powered, Android-run, ZenFone 4, 5 and 6, will be made available to consumers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
The ZenFone comes in four-inch, five-inch and six-inch screens, sporting different cameras — five-, eight- and 13-megapixel respectively. ZenFone 4 features a microSD card slot, capable of up to 64GB expandable storage, while ZenFone 5 has a HD display. Top of the range ZenFone 6 comes with the Asus SonicMaster audio technology.
All ZenFone handsets will have the Asus ZenFone UI skin as well as PixelMaster, a camera enhancement that adds features such as depth-of-field effects. Asus has also added a low-light mode on the ZenFone 5 and 6 to enhance camera performance in low-light conditions.
The ZenFone release will be spearheaded by the ZenFone 5 in May. Available in Charcoal Black and Pearl White, the ZenFone 5 costs $199 (without contract) if pre-registered and $249 after that. Those interested can register on the Asus website between April 23 —30.
Exact dates for the release of ZenFone 4 and 6 in Charcoal Black, Cherry Red, or Pearl White, will be specified later.
