Cyclist in critical state after OCBC Cycle accident24-year-old Chia Wee Kiat is in critical condition after suffering brain damage due to an accident at the OCBC Cycle Singapore event on Sunday. Chia is now being treated at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Intensive Care Unit after undergoing brain surgery. While taking part in the 59km Super Challenge, Chia fell off his bicycle as he was going down the steep Bejamin Sheares bridge towards Tanjong Rhu at about 5:30am. He was found lying face down and covered in blood. Event organisers Spectrum Worldwide, who were informed of the accident at 5:39am, said Chia received medical attention within three minutes. An ambulance deployed to send Chia to SGH reached the hospital at 6:14am. While the facts of the case aren't clear yet, eye witnesses are urged to contact the organisers or the Land Transport Authority should they have any information on the accident.
