As writers, we’re glad to hear of the various up-and-coming literary events that have been garnering a lot of attention — it's always great when locals read and support the works of our fellow countrymen.
In case you didn't know, we've got cool stuff like a mobile library roaming our neigbourhoods, a book vending machine and upcoming events like #BuySingLit. But all eyes will be on Street Reads this coming Saturday — it's where you'll get to pick up books displayed on ground mats and read 'em on a whim.
Organised by The Wildflower Collective, who've done past events such as Singapore Really Really Free Market, Street Reads comes with a twist. These books and magazines are self-published and self-printed with materials that, knowing Singapore, are probably considered too controversial for the mainstream market.
