Can we love Changi Airport more? It seems possible.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) has awarded six-year contracts to South Korea's Shilla Travel Retail and DFS Venture Singapore to run their duty-free retail outlets in all four Airport terminals, including the future Terminal 4.
Shilla Travel Retail has outbid long-time incumbent Nuance-Watson to make available cult brands like Clé de Peau, Darphin, Etude House, The Face Shop, Giorgio Armani Cosmetics, Jo Malone, Karl Lagerfeld, Missha and Nars in the transit shopping areas, and rumour has it we're even getting the world's first ever Samsung standalone store in an airport. The retail revamp will kick off sometime in October this year.
But that's not all.
There'll be wine libraries hosting tasting flights, but if you're a bit of a cocktail junkie, the iconic Raffles Hotel is launching their Long Bar concept at the airport serving freshly-concocted Singapore Slings.
Shilla Travel Retail has confirmed that it will absorb the seven percent GST for arriving passengers that buy perfumes and cosmetics.
