
Finding a hearty meal at only $2 in the central business district sounds as good as hunting for unicorns and manticores, but the myth of cheap food in the city proves to be very much a real lore.
Say hello to legendary kopitiam uncle Ah Cai, whose eatery along South Bridge Road serves eight different kinds of noodles at only $2 per bowl. But such a feat comes at price — the 60-year-old pretty much runs the whole place by himself, arriving early at the shop at 4am to prep the food and cooking the dishes for customers the whole day. His dedication to his craft and him refusing to increase the price of his dishes for 22 years has clearly paid off — Frenzlink Cafeteria is lovingly referred to as the '$2 Kopitiam'.
