On St John's Island — one of Singapore's southern islands — resides a population of four. Two of them, both in their 60s, work for the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) — the managing agent that takes care of the island's maintenance and guest support services. Both employees have lived on the quiet island with their spouses for decades, but they'll be retiring and moving to mainland Singapore by the new year, according to The Straits Times.
Through the years, living quarters were provided for the two staff members for their convenience and to minimise travelling time between Singapore and St John's.
