Deanna See isn't your average teen. Instead of chronicling the daily happenings in her life or ranting about teenage angst-related problems, the 17-year-old Raffles Institution student made a video on antibiotic resistance.

Her educational and entertaining project — titled 'Superbugs! And Our Race Against Resistance' — boosted her into the finals of the Breakthrough Junior Challenge, an international science video competition that saw over 6,000 entries from 146 countries this year. And See was one of the two winners; the other was Peruvian student Antonella Masini, 18, whose video examined quantum entanglement.

This yearly contest takes in original videos from students aged 13 to 18, who explain hard-to-understand theories or concepts in the areas of mathematics, life sciences or physics.
