On Tuesday night, a fatal incident took the life of a 15-year-old boy. Tan Yao Bin was taking a shower at his home in Block 233, Bukit Batok East Avenue 5, when he was allegedly electrocuted and suffered cardiac arrest. His mother said she heard him cry out for her in Mandarin, and the rest of his family quickly switched off the electrical supply at home. They then realised the wiring for the heater was exposed in the toilet.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call at 8.07pm and brought the unconscious boy to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, but in spite of the paramedics' attempts to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he died later that night.
Police investigations are underway.
