On Saturday, passengers on board Scoot flight TZ001 from Sydney to Singapore encountered something out of the ordinary. After they heard a loud sound from the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, they saw sparks shooting out from the engine on the plane's right wing.
According to Scoot, this happened during the plane's descent to Singapore, and it "necessitated a shut-down of the right engine". The flight crew then called the Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre to ask for fire services to stand by upon the aircraft's landing — fortunately, the engine did not catch fire, and the plane touched down as scheduled.
The cause of the incident is now under investigation.
