Take a peek into the world of French cinema this month, with almost 20 titles on the curated line-up for the French Film Festival. From edgy cult classics to the most recent box office hits, these movies will be screened at various venues across the island for 11 days.
Opening the festival is Monsieur Chocolat, a biopic starring James Thierrée (the grandson of Charlie Chaplin) and Omar Sy (The Intouchables, Burnt) about the real life story of Rafael Padilla, otherwise known as Chocolat. He was the first black clown to play a leading role in a circus pantomime act in France in the 19th century, and he struck up a lifelong friendship with a white artist nicknamed Footit.
