Presumably pissed over the recent spate of Singaporeans making total fools of themselves overseas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued a travel notice that sternly asks citizens to behave when they're out and about.
Though the ministry assures that they'll render all the help they can to locals arrested and detained overseas, they won't be able to intervene in the law enforcement and judicial workings of another country. Even worse — the judicial process could take months in some countries.
To avoid such complications, MFA request Singaporeans "exercise due care and personal responsibility when travelling overseas, including respecting and abiding by local laws and regulations."
