
Singapore Airlines (SIA) said on Saturday it has banned Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones from all its flights and any passenger carrying one will not be allowed to board its planes.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued an emergency order banning the devices from aircraft in the United States as of Saturday. It is now considered a federal crime to even bring a Galaxy Note 7 onto an airplane, with penalties of up to USD179,933 for each violation. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a new Emergency Restriction / Prohibition Order that restricts passengers from carrying the phone on themselves, carry-on baggage, checked baggage or as cargo.
