[field_image]Three men assisted police in nabbing a 37-year-old man in another case of snatch theft in Western Singapore on March 15.
The suspect is alleged to have snatched the purse from his 38-year-old female victim's hand and fled at the third floor of one of the blocks at Jurong Gateway.
Her cries for help attracted the attention of two members of public who gave chase and managed to detain the suspect, before police were called in to make the arrest and retrieve the stolen purse.
Another man driving in the vicinity caught the chase on his in-vehicle camera and handed over the memory card to assist police in their investigations.
In commending the three men for their public spiritedness, Melvin Yong, commander of Clementi Police Division and Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) said, "This case showcases the importance of Police-community partnership in fighting crime."
