17 new cases of locally transmitted Zika popped up yesterday, with a new district identified as a potential new cluster for the viral outbreak.
Now amounting to 275 instances of the infection so far in the country, 10 of the new cases are linked to the known Zika hotspots of the Aljunied Crescent, Sims Drive, Kallang Way and Paya Lebar Way cluster.
But one case is linked to Bishan Street 12 — similar to a previously reported case. As such, the National Environment Agency (NEA) will be conducting vector control operations and outreach efforts in the area.
Currently, operations and outreach efforts have been pushing beyond the boundaries of Aljunied Crescent and Sims Drive. Districts such as Geylang and Bedok have also seen mosquito control measures over the past few days.
