Hours after getting snubbed by United States President Obama to have an official meeting in Laos in the ASEAN summit, no-holds-barred Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte instead shot the shit with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
This would be the first time the Singapore leader met Duterte since the latter took power on June 30 this year. The bilateral meeting ahead of the official opening of the summit saw PM Lee congratulating President Duterte on his election and inviting him to visit Singapore.
"Both leaders reaffirmed the long and close ties between the two countries and looked forward to the celebrations of the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations in 2019," said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement. "They discussed domestic and regional developments".
