An elderly lady unfortunately met a tragic end on the way to the market when a runaway bus rolled down a slope and collided into her at traffic junction in Bukit Panjang.
What made it more uncanny was the fact that the bus that hit her was, in fact, a funeral bus.
The freak accident occured last Friday morning near Bangkit Market, where 68-year-old Ong Lim had just finished her shopping, The New Paper reported. She had been standing on a kerb at the junction of Bukit Panjang Ring Road and Bukit Panjang Road, trying to hail a taxi when the bus — belonging to the Singapore Muslim Casket — crashed into her.
Ong was conveyed to the National University Hospital (NUH) soon after, but succumbed to her injuries around 11.15am.
