The usually slow Singapore-bound traffic in the morning rush hour at Tuas Checkpoint got even more sluggish today when harsh winds and pelting rain caused an entire canopy to collapse.
Fortunately, no one was hurt or trapped under the fallen structure. Unfortunately, it caused a massive traffic jam — bad enough for the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to issue a statement urging the public not to use the Tuas Checkpoint. According to Facebook user Suthen Shemu'el, the collapse prompted the authorities to shut down the car lanes.
