In the latest case of paying through the nose for mixed rice dishes, Evelyn Chew became yet another victim in an uneconomical predicament. Swearing off future visits to a Jia Jia Le Cuisine stall at VivoCity's Food Republic food court, she claimed to have been charged a ridiculous $17.80 for a plate of cai fan. For a VivoCity food court, that's just unreasonable — a similar dish at the overpriced Marina Bay Sands food court would cost about the same, but that's because its in freakin' Marina Bay Sands.
