Four food stalls will have their licences suspended for two weeks by the National Environment Agency, after cockroach infestations were uncovered at their premises. Prata Wala at Nex shopping centre is one of them, and the three others come from Block 477 Tampines Street 43. The former will close its doors from June 21 to July 4, while the rest will do so from June 18 to July 1.

Under the NEA Points Demerit System, the licensees have chalked up 12 demerit points over the past year, and have been fined a total of $800. All food handlers from the suspended stalls must attend and pass the Basic Food Hygiene Course before they can go back to work.

If you see any poor hygiene practices in food establishments, feel free to call the 24-hour NEA Contact Centre at 1800 - 2255632.
