29-year-old Sivaneswaran Ramalingam was found dead last Saturday in Bangkok following a domestic dispute. The former S.League footballer had been living in Bangkok in a rented apartment with his girlfriend, Belgian national Sarah Gieghase, of whom he has a three-year-old son with.
Sivanesewaran had been based in Bangkok for a while, working for a Thai company selling beauty products which was founded by Gieghase and her ex-husband Kevin Maes.
Investigations are still ongoing, but from news reports so far, the dispute between the couple allegedly got violent that night, and Gieghase called her parents for help. It was Maes and his friend who showed up at the apartment and intervened, with Maes restraining Sivaneswaran in a chokehold. Gieghase was not in the apartment when the incident happened.
