Fortunately for the wee students of Pre-school By-The-Park along Shelford Road, the blaze that burnt down their school occured before classes started this morning.
The fire is believed to have started before children started arriving at the centre, TODAY reports. The flames on the first floor of the three-storey semi-detached unit was already well lit by the time the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived around 7am. The roof of the pre-school had also collapsed partially, with neighbouring residents already fleeing their homes before firefighters arrived.
